Create rounded corners

Rounded corners are often used to soften the look of an application or document. This article describes how to create them using GIMP.

Rounded Rectangle

Start by opening your image in GIMP.

1. Make sure the correct layer is selected.
2. Go to Layer > Transparency > Add Alpha Channel
   1. Note that if it's greyed out, it's because an Alpha Channel already exists.
3. Go to Select > Rounded Rectangle.
4. Adjust the Radius Amount (e.g. 5% for a small rounded corner)
5. Go to Select > Invert.
6. Go to Edit > Cut
   1. Or press Delete on your keyboard.

Export as png

Now you can export the image as a png file which will include the transparency at the corners.
