How to remove leading apostrophes in number cells
The leading apostrophe sometimes present in a number cell, signifies that the cell is text formatted. This article describes the process for removing it.
Method
Open the spreadsheet file in LibreOffice Calc.
- Select the column of text formatted numbers that you want to tidy up.
- On the Main menu, go to Format > Cells.
- In the dialog box that appears, click Number, General and click OK.
- Go to Edit > Find & Replace.
- In the Search for box enter .* (period, asterisk).
- Enter & in the Replace field.
- Expand Other options.
- Enable Current selection only.
- Enable Regular expressions.
- Click Replace all.
