Ubuntu monitor installation

proxmoxYou might find it useful to install an Ubuntu desktop as a virtual machine that you can access remotely, and then manage a Proxmox infrastructure from inside!


Start by creating a VM with the following considerations:

  1. VM ID: 202
  2. Enter a meaningful Hostname (e.g. ubw-01).
  3. Choose a Resource Pool (if applicable).
  4. Choose a family of OS (e.g. Linux 4.X/3.X/2.6 Kernel).
  5. Select an Ubuntu ISO image to use as a CD/DVD installation disk (e.g. Ubuntu 16.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso)
  6. Choose a QEMU image format.
    1. Leave size at 32GB.
  7. Leave CPU defaults.
  8. Select Max and Min Memory limits (e.g. 1024, 2048).
  9. Choose the correct Bridge for this container to use.
  10. Leave the NIC Model as Intel E1000.
  11. Click Finish.

Perform a standard Ubuntu desktop installation, ensuring the your user account logs in automatically.
