Checking qcow2 files

proxmoxSometimes you will want to manage qcow2 files from the command line. This article describes some steps you can take. We will start by logging on to the server using SSH.

File Sizes

With thin provisioning it's sometimes difficult to tell how much disk space a VM disk is using.

To discover this info, start by browsing to a particular folder and run the following command:

qemu-img info vm-xxx-disk-1.qcow2

This will give the following info

file format: qcow2
virtual size: 500G
disk size: 200G
