What is Ubuntu?

ubuntuThe world's favourite Linux distribution!

Ubuntu has become very popular in recent years.  It is renowned as a stable, reliable and easy to use Linux distribution (it's based on Debian) and is often used itself as a base for other distributions.

You'll certainly find it useful as a server and as a desktop too.  There is even an education specific version called Edubuntu.
