Amazon Web Services

Cloud services from Amazon

awsWeb-based storage and compute services

Using AWS allows you to build on-demand servers with Amazon's exising infrastructure.  Currently you can deploy Windows and Linux/Unix servers that can host many different applications for your school.

Here are some steps to get you started...

  1. You'll need to start by signing up to AWS.
  2. Next you'll need to sign up for Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2).
  3. Now you can get started with Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3).

Once you're up and running, you might want to have a go at building the following...

  • Windows Server 2008
  • Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Server

Visit the Amazon site to learn more.
