Create New Repositories

githubIn GitHub a repository is the place where you store any files that you want to collaborate on.  A repository can contain folders, files, images, videos, spreadsheets and datasets.

Start by browsing to the GitHub website.

  1. Click the Plus sign upper right.
  2. Select New Repository.
  3. Give your new repository a meaningful Repository name.
  4. If you pay for the service, you can make the repository private, otherwise leave as Public.
  5. Select Initialise this repository with a README.
  6. Click Create Repository.

Your repository is now created and will be visible on the home page when you log on.  Now that you have a repository, you can create a branch.
