Providing helpdesk support from a website

joomlaExtensionsHoduma Helpdesk is a fork of the excellent Huru Helpdesk, and it allows you to provide Helpdesk support from your website.  Users can easily log calls and you can assign calls to your Helpdesk reps.  Learn how to install Joomla extensions to get yourself started.

Visit the Joomla extensions site to review Hoduma Helpdesk and to get the latest version.


Install the following:

  1.  joomla15zip (269 kb)


Log into the back-end of your Joomla site.

  1. Go to Components > Huru Helpdesk.
  2. General Configuration:
    1. Enter a Reply Address (eg. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
    2. Helpdesk base URL:  (eg.
    3. Deselect Allow anonymous cases.
    4. Deselect Allow User select on new cases.
    5. Click Save.
  3. Departments:
    1. Click New to create your new departments.
  4. Users:
    1. Click Sync Joomla! usersto import users from the Joomla database.
      1. When you add new Joomla users you'll need to click sync again.
    2. Select a User and click Edit.
      1. Enter contact details.
      2. Select an appropriate Department for a user.
      3. Select roles for this account:
        1. User:  This is someone who needs to log calls.
        2. Rep:  Someone who responds to calls.
        3. Administrator:  Someone who manages calls.
  5. Categories:
  6. Create New categories and assign a default helpdesk rep.

Show the helpdesk on the front-end

  1. Go to Menus > Main Menu.
  2. Click New.
  3. Select Huru Helpdesk > Cpanel > Default Layout.
  4. Enter a Title and click Save.
