Adding comments to your articles

joomlaExtensionsThe !JoomlaComment extension allows visitors to your site to make comments about the quality of your articles.  This can obviously add tremendous credibility to your site, and help you improve the standard of your writing.  Learn how to install Joomla extensions to get yourself started.

Download and install the following...

  1. joomla15zipJoomla Comment 4.0.0 RC1 (892 kb)


Attention:  This component is enabled for all articles on installation.

Here are some of the configuration changes that I like to make...

  1. Go to Components > !JoomlaComment > Content Settings.
  2. On the General tab, change Exclude to Include.
  3. Select the Sections / Categories that you'd like to have comments on.
  4. Click Apply.
  5. On the Securitytab, make the following settings:
    1. Notify moderators:  Yes
    2. Enable users notification:  No
    3. Censorship:  Yes
  6. Click Apply.
  7. On the Posting tab:
    1. Allow nested comments:  No
    2. Input website field:  No
    3. UBB code support:  No
    4. Enable avatars:  Yes
    5. Enable gravatars support:  Yes
    6. Deactivate search button:  Yes
  8. Click Apply.
  9. On the Layout tab:
  10. Standard template:  MTDefault-emotop, css-red (choose a template that suits your site)
  11. Emoticon (smilies) support:  No
  12. If you choose a customisable template you will see two extra tabs, HTML and CSS where you can make further changes to make the comment system really gel with your site.
